Yoto Says: If there’s commotion in the ocean, seaweed in need, or something amiss in the abyss, the SoundTrekkers will save the day!

What do you call it when a girl, her best friend, her almost-grown-up older brother, and a computer called Pickles travel the globe in an enormous whale-shaped submarine, capture the ocean’s most interesting sounds, and post them onto the greatest podcast that ever lived — all while thwarting a league of zany undersea villains who are determined to destroy the world’s most precious natural resources just for the fun of it? Why, Soundtrekkers, of course!

Join Molly, Jojo, and JP as they sail the seven seas, all while learning about the 7 Cs: Creativity, Compassion, Curiosity, Communication, Collaboration, Community, and Critical Thinking. The Cs help the Soundtrekkers foil the plans of some wacky supervillains, who could all use a lesson in how to live harmoniously with those around them, and protect — not wreck! — the natural world we all share.

This pack includes:

Card 1: Creativity - Soothing Sounds

After the Soundtrekkers successfully record the gentle popping sound of water flowing through the Great Barrier Reef, they suddenly hear a loud CRACK! coming through their underwater mic. Oh no! It’s nefarious villain Show Tuna (the ocean’s most overly dramatic, compulsively performing theater nerd who disguises herself as a tuna and “speaks” exclusively in show tunes) breaking off pieces of the reef to use as set pieces for an upcoming show! When the Seven Cs Solver app suggests CREATIVITY as a solution, the Soundtrekkers come up with a clever way to save the reef and give Show Tuna the performance of a lifetime!

Card 2: Compassion - Snapping Shrimp

The Soundtrekkers head to the Indian Ocean to record the loud sound the Snapping Shrimp’s claws make, but after recording a sample, they suddenly overhear something distressing on their mic. It’s the horrible sea bully Sea Cucumber Jones, an oversized lug who sports a sea cucumber costume. He is hurling insults at a tiny shrimp. “Hey you little shrimp!” “Get back here, shrimp!” “What are you shrimp? Chicken??” When his bullying spreads to other small marine life, the Soundtrekkers consult the Seven Cs Solver app, which suggests COMPASSION as a way to help. In the end, the crew learns that when Sea Cucumber Jones was just a junior villain, he too was a victim of bullying. All the blundering bad guy really needs is a bit of tender love and attention in order to cut out the shenanigans.

Card 3: Curiosity - The Bermuda Triangle

The Soundtrekkers pick up on the ghostly sounds of creaking and groaning, and head to the Bermuda Triangle to investigate. When they arrive, they record the sounds of a sunken wooden sailing ship, but after gathering what they need, the crew hears some destructive crashing sounds coming from inside the ship. As it turns out, it’s the muddling menace Clam Hands, an otherwise ordinary dude with clams for hands turning the sunken ship upside-down in search of treasure! When the Seven Cs Solver app suggests CURIOSITY, the Soundtrekkers invite Clam Hands to play a game to convince him that maybe there’s a better place to go treasure hunting!

Card 4: Communication - Funny Noises

The Soundtrekkers head to the Florida Keys to record the sound the silly whistling and clicking noises made by Bottlenose Dolphins — they sound just like humans giggling! After they get what they need for their podcast, they are confronted by hapless bad guy Cuckoo Clownfish, the ocean’s most unfunny clown who, despite his best efforts, is simply miserable at making anyone laugh. In fact, Cuckoo is tearing out precious sea grass from the ocean floor to entertain himself! The Seven Cs Solver app suggests COMMUNICATION as a way out of the predicament. The Soundtrekkers must show Cuckoo that destroying the ocean is NOT funny — but maybe telling jokes is!

Card 5: Collaboration - The Bloop

The Soundtrekkers head to the South Pacific Ocean to capture the powerful, low-frequency sound of the world-famous Bloop, which has mystified scientists for decades. Once they record the one-of-a-kind sound, they accidentally pick up the sound of an argument between Peanut Butter and Jellyfish - two of the most bumbling blunderbusses under the sea! Soon, their fight devolves into the each of them acting out more and more destructive examples of just how bad they can be! The Soundtrekkers consult the Seven Cs Solver app, which suggests COLLABORATION. Molly, Jojo, and JP make waves in helping the brawling buffoons come together – as a semi-functioning, but still ridiculous, unit.

Card 6: Community - For the Birds

The Soundtrekkers are excited to head to the Coastal Cliffs of the Shetland Islands to record the chorus of squawks and caws of its Atlantic Puffins, Razorbills, and Guillemots. But on their way back home, they overhear some thuds coming from the ocean floor. The crew follows the sound and discovers Blue Tang Shoe, an over-the top sporty bad guy who wears a pair of squeaky sneakers designed to resemble Blue Tang fish. Blue Tang Shoe is trying to kick a ball, but is mostly just kicking the helpless sea urchins who are in his path across the sandy ground! The Seven Cs Solver offers COMMUNITY as a way to stop him, and the Soundtrekker crew must come up with a way for Blue Tang Shoe to learn to play nicely with others!

Card 7: Critical Thinking - Flounder Pounder

The Soundtrekkers are amazed to learn that Haddock, a type of fish in the North Sea, create drumming sounds by vibrating their swim bladders! They immediately head out to capture the sounds for the latest episode of Soundtrek, but when they arrive, their mic picks up a different sound. Upon investigation, they discover the most brutish and reckless of all villains, Flounder Pounder, who uses an oversized rubber flounder to create destruction in her wake. When she threatens to use her fake fish to pulverize the Soundtrekkers sub, they consult the Seven Cs Solver app, which informs them that CRITICAL THINKING could be the answer to their latest troubles. The Soundtrekkers must show Flounder Pounder how to make better choices, and not destroy things simply for the fun of it!
