My First Conversations

First Conversations is a board book series developed by experts in early childhood education and anti-injustice work — designed to make complicated topics approachable for the youngest kids. Clear, concrete language and beautiful imagery that young children can grasp on their own, with enough depth for adults to build on through further conversation.

Kids are naturally curious and observant, and they're asking questions about the world from a very young age — often before adults feel ready to answer. Research shows that talking about topics like race and gender from age two helps children make sense of what they see, while also building self-awareness, self-esteem, and the ability to recognize and speak up against things that are unfair.
