Canada Day in the Park

One of the biggest celebrations of the summer — the City of Prince George and the Multicultural Heritage Society host Canada Day at Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park on July 1st every year. Multicultural food, live entertainment, and a genuinely festive atmosphere make this a great first outing of the summer for families.

Love Local Events

Organized by Simply Beautiful Boutique, Love Local Events is a celebration of small businesses, community, and giving back. With over 100 local vendors, food booths, live entertainment, and face painting, it's a great summer outing that doubles as a chance to discover (and support) local makers and businesses. Events typically run several times over the summer at the CN Centre.

Kids Carnival at Huble Homestead

A family favourite — the Kids Carnival at Huble Homestead brings together magic shows, carnival games, crafts with Two Rivers Gallery, storytime with the Prince George Public Library, a mini rail ride with the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum, ice cream, treasure hunts, and old-fashioned candy. It's an afternoon that genuinely delivers on every front for the 4–12 crowd.

BMO Community Art Days

An interactive art event featuring hands-on activities, demonstrations, and various forms of artistic expression for all ages. Typically held in early July — watch Two Rivers Gallery's channels for location and programming details each year.

Summerfest — Downtown Prince George

Hosted by Downtown Prince George BIA, Summerfest brings the downtown core to life with live performances, activities, and local vendors. A great reason to explore downtown with kids in tow.

Touch a Truck — Prince George Public Library

One of the best free summer events for young kids. The Prince George Public Library wraps up its summer reading program each August with Touch a Truck at Canada Games Plaza — fire trucks, dump trucks, loaders, emergency vehicles, and more, all available for kids to get up close to (and in). Free admission, no registration required.

BCNE — British Columbia Northern Exhibition

One of the longest-running fall fairs in the province, the BCNE has been going since 1912. Four days of midway rides, agricultural displays, live entertainment, food trucks, equine competitions, vendor markets, and more — held every August at the CN Centre fairgrounds. A full-day (or multi-day) family outing that PG families look forward to all summer.

Penny Days — Central BC Railway & Forestry Museum

A free community event celebrating the history of Prince George's rail line communities. Local authors and speakers, folk music, museum exhibits, and a farmers and artisan market — held at the Central BC Railway & Forestry Museum, typically in late August.
