Wheat Thermo Jackets for Kids | The Best Mid-Season Jacket for Spring & Fall
I am so excited - I have been anxiously waiting to expand our size collection in Wheat Thermo wear for much too long. When we first brought in the quilted thermo jackets in toddler sizes a few seasons ago, parents quickly fell in love with them. They are perfect for those tricky in-between seasons and offer the beloved floral and neutrals that Wheat is loved for.

The Perfect Jacket for In-Between Weather
Spring and fall weather in Northern BC can be unpredictable - even that statement feels like an understatment. Cool mornings, warmer afternoons, damp playgrounds, and the occasional surprise rain shower mean kids often need something warmer than a hoodie, but lighter than a winter coat. I know my kids insist on wearing their winter coats for way too long and getting them into a comfortable spring coat is such a breath of fresh air without gettting them way too warm.
Wheat Thermo jackets are made with a three-layer quilted material that provides lightweight insulation while still allowing kids to move freely. The fabric is breathable, soft, and water-repellent, helping kids stay comfortable during cool or slightly damp weather.

Thermo wear is often ideal for temperatures around 10°C and cooler, making it one of the most practical mid-season jackets for everyday play.
Other similar products include the Therm Kids All-Weather collection which is another softshell style waterproof outerwear for kids up to 14Y.
What Makes Thermo Wear Different?
Parents tend to love thermo jackets because they strike the perfect balance between warmth, flexibility, and durability.
Wheat’s thermo outerwear offers:
- Lightweight insulation without bulky padding
- Water-repellent outer fabric for damp weather
- Breathable construction that helps regulate body temperature
- Soft ribbed cuffs and thumb holes for comfort
- Reflective details for visibility during darker months
- Materials that are PFC-free and OEKO-TEX® certified
The result is a jacket that kids can comfortably wear while exploring the outdoors. The collection includes pants and one-pieces. At this time we offer a small selection fo jackets for the community, but can continue to expand our collection as demand and interest allows.

Thermo vs Softshell vs Rain Jacket — What’s the Difference?
Parents often ask which jacket their kids will need for spring and fall. The truth is that each type of outerwear serves a different purpose, but there is a lot of similarity and over lap between the different styles.

Wheat Thermo Outerwear is Built to Last (And Great for Consignment)
Over the past few years we've added consignment to the shop, and if there's one item that comes through in impecable condition no matter how much play it's had - it's Wheat Thermo Outerwear. I see a lot of secondhand products, and they don't all hold up the same. There's a reason why some products are built to last and others are built to encourage you to buy again and again.
These jackets are durable, wash well, and maintain their shape — which means we occasionally see them come through our preloved Wheat Kids consignment collection in beautiful condition. Naturally as an heirloom style brand, these are passed around to siblings and close friends and family so they don't always land in your second hand shops.
Good outerwear should last through multiple kids, and thermo wear tends to do exactly that.
Wheat Thermo Outerwear is Available in Bigger Sizes
We’re thrilled to offer Wheat Thermo jackets up to size 12Y, so older kids can enjoy the same lightweight warmth that younger siblings have been wearing for years. This is a European brand that offers a universal cut and style; you'll likely find you don't need to size up as aggressively as you might at other box store brands.
Because premium kids clothing shouldn’t stop at toddler sizes.

We look forward to continuing to bring in new styles throughout the upcoming seasons for the local Northern BC community, and shipping across Canada.
