Haven’t Heard From Us About Your Consignment Drop-Off?
If you’ve dropped off a consignment box and haven’t heard from us, the first step is simple: Email us at shop@nestandsprout.ca and we’ll track it down.
Running consignment means managing thousands of pieces of clothing and hundreds of consignors. Our growth over the past 18 months has been unbelievable and to say that I have smoothly figured it out, is not whats happened. Most of the time things run smoothly, but occasionally something slips through the cracks and mistakes are made. We wouldn't be a human-based business if we didn't make a few mistakes.
When we make a mistake, we will do what we need to sort it out with you.

The Most Common Reasons for Lack of Communication
- An email address bouncing back
- Our original email landing in your spam or junk folder
- A spreadsheet page gets overlooked
- A box gets set aside and not logged right away
- A name tag falls off a bag or box
If you’re ever unsure, just reach out. I can quickly check your account; and every single piece of paper in the filing cabinet, every spread sheet, and track down what needs to be tracked down. There is a paper trail. We can find it.
What Happens if Something Truly Gets Lost?
It’s rare — but if I genuinely cannot locate your box or items, I will work with you to find a fair solution. I promise I don't bite, and I'll ask you to provide a recommendation on a fair estimate of what I should have owed you.
Or - you can send me a link to the items you think might be yours... if they are posted online. This is most common when we reuse a box... I have one MIA box mixed up at the moment.
This system has only been running solo for about 18 months, and sometimes mistakes happen. What matters to me is that we land on a fair outcome together. We're adding staff, improving systems, and managing a lot of the errors as they happen.
When Should I Follow Up on my Consignment?
Because many consignors drop off monthly, we’ve shifted how follow-ups work. Early on we said we'd follow up after 12 weeks, but that became IMPOSSIBLE to manage.
We now ask consignors to reach out when they need an update. Send an email. I'm adding staff to the team, and taking more time off; email contact is best - better than calling or dropping in and hoping I'm there.
That can be after 4 weeks, or 4 months, or as needed . If you drop off regularly, you’ll also receive an update on your account each time you bring in a new box. I use a series of email templates to keep a consistent communication flow.
Want a Payout?
Just ask. I'll look up your account, and we'll offer a pay out of whats available. If your monitoring your consignor account, we ask that you wait until it hits $50. This keeps that fee exchange reasonable. You get an extra 10% if you take store credit. Store Credit can be used on anything in store. Items that haven’t sold after 12+ weeks are often eligible for a buy-out at 20–25% of their current value.
Because resale pricing drops over time, the best value is usually the initial store-credit buy-out offered when items are first processed; or within the first 4-8 weeks.
Items that are out of season; may not sell until the season approaches. We may offer lower buy outs for out of season items, as we know we wont get paid for them until they sell... in 6 months. It just is what it is. That siad Prince George is fairly temperate, and it's really outerwear and footwear that are strongly seasonal; along with special occaision dresses.
Think Your Quote Looks Off?
Ask for the details.
I’m always happy to provide the spreadsheet breakdown of what was processed. Sometimes a misunderstanding comes down to:
- Items that were passed on
- Items bought out immediately
- Items placed on consignment
If something looks wrong, ask. We can review it together.

NEW UPDATE Consigning Higher-Value Items
If you have something more valuable — like:
- Hiking backpacks
- Diaper bags
- Premium outerwear
Items expected to sell for over $100 can be handled a bit differently, upon request. This i a new update to reflect a fair pricing and buy out value for both of us. These items are always sought after.
For these items I’m open to:
- A 50/50 split of the final sale price
- Adjusting the listing if shipping costs are involved.
Keep in mind that second-hand items over $100 are subject to PST, and I’ll also want to know your expectations for pricing before listing. Tell me what you think it's worth, or want to get out of it. Because communication is best; and sometimes with speciality items, I don't know. You know more than I do.

Communication Goes a Long Way
Consignment works best when we communicate.
If you’re wondering about your drop-off, your account balance, or a specific item — just reach out. I’m always happy to check the records and give you a clear update.
I've had a few health things come up; and at the end of the day your emails are the best way to keep up to date as I can.
