We Just Brought a Spanish Water Bottle Brand to Prince George

Over the years, ya’ll have asked for stainless steel products and it’s always on my radar to find you incredible products that you and your kids will love. Earlier this year, we brought in a Canadian brand, Inkaara - and this month we added another. 

Cool Bottles is a Spanish brand that's been quietly making some of the most well-designed stainless steel kids' bottles in Europe. In a world where you can get anything online or at the dollar store, the goal is to seek out truly exceptional products that bring you features you didn’t know you needed or could have. 

Cool Bottles are awesome because…. 

First, the material. All Cool Bottles products are made from 18/8 food-grade stainless steel, the same grade used in cookware and medical equipment. It's completely BPA-free, it doesn't require any internal plastic coating, and it doesn't transfer taste or odour into whatever your kid is drinking. If you've ever noticed that slightly-off taste from a plastic bottle that's been sitting in a hot car, you know exactly why this matters.

I don’t think we talk about BPA enough - it was really big for a while, but then everything was BPA free. In a world where you can import and buy anything online and in store - know that not everything is made with your safety in mind. I truly believe BPA’s are sneaking back into our lives at an alarming rate. BPA’s are an endocrine disruptor that impacts hormonal levels. 

Second, the insulation. Cool Bottles uses Triple Cool™ technology:  a triple-layer construction with a copper inner layer. This keeps drinks cold for 36 hours and warm for 18. You probably don’t even need that much time if your kids are like mine and devour everything in site. 

But it does mean your kid's water is still cold at 3pm pickup if it went in cold at 7am drop-off. For anyone who has ever picked up a backpack and heard the lukewarm slosh of a forgotten water bottle, this is genuinely useful.

Third, the leak-proof situation is real. Both lids, the bigger bottle comes with two styles of lids, are completly air tigh. You can toss the bottle in a bag without a second thought. The seal holds.

Two Sizes for Kids

We brought in the Cool Bottles range in two sizes, and they're genuinely aimed at different stages. That’s one of the challenges of all children’s boutiques you go from learning to drink to being a full on pretween. My kids needed new water bottles; so we definitely added the bigger one too.

As soon as your ready to introduce liquids, you can introduce a water bottle. We prefer to suggest these tiny cups from Bibado, but for something on the go that’s just for your kids and their back wash - a water bottle is it. Seriously, for many breastfeeding kids that you’re looking to wean after 6 months, a water bottle or cup can be a more versatile and effective product. 

It has a soft silicone teat that kids drink from by biting down gently, which means no complicated valves, no strong suck required, and a lot less frustration for toddlers still figuring out independent drinking. 

There's a built-in handle sized for small hands, a click-lock teat cover to keep things clean between uses, and the same Triple Cool™ insulation as the bigger bottle. It's the bottle that bridges the gap between baby bottle and grown-up water bottle without the plastic and without the leaks.

And when you’re ready to move past the silicone teat, the bottle is the same size as others in their collection, allowing for other lids to be swapped in depending on stage of life. 

The 500ml Kids Bottle is sized for older kids, like 6-12 Years. 

It comes with two lids: a straw lid for easy sipping on the go, and a screw-top for more active days when you don't want anything sloshing around. The exterior has a textured 3D finish that it is an surprisingly welcome tactile sensory feature. I’m also a believer that your kids will loose less water bottles when it’s an exceptional product. 

A Spanish Brand in a Northern BC Shop

Just because we’re in the North, doesn’t mean we can’t have the cool stuff from Europe that the bougie boutiques in Vancouver source. 

Cool Bottles is designed in Spain and made in China. China continues to be a leader, and often the only one manufacturing in certain industries. But it’s just one step in production because they do control is the design, the material standards, and the ethical auditing of their factories. For a brand built around reducing single-use plastic, that transparency matters.

It's also just a beautifully designed product. The colourways are bold, the sizing is practical, and the whole thing feels like it was made to be used hard and last. Which maybe your thinking - they’ll lose it first. But it’s unique and it’s not the same bottle as everyone else. You’ll spot it easily in the lost & found and claim it back.
