by Bailey Bouwman

Are you looking for the best places to stop on your road trip from Prince George to Vancouver? Check out these eight amazing kid-friendly stops that offer delicious food, breathtaking views, and exciting activities.

Hixon: Hixon Take Out

Swerve off the highway for a quick and easy dinner stop at the Hixon Burger Bar, located by the gas station. The place only accepts cash, but it has the best soft serve between Quesnel and Prince George. And if you're looking for delicious burgers, you won't be disappointed.

Quesnel: Recreation Centre Playground

The McDonald's Drive-Thru and the Quesnel Recreation Centre's playground are the perfect places for your kids to play while you enjoy your fancy coffee and the best cinnamon buns in the North at Granville on Main Street.

Williams Lake - Scout Island Nature Reserve.

Located just off the highway in central Williams Lake, Scout Island Nature Reserve is perfect for stretching your legs with some outdoor time. It features a nature house, trails, picnic tables, and even washrooms.

100 Mile House - Centennial Park

Take a short, stroller-friendly, easy trail to Bridge Creek Falls, a magnificent waterfall located in the centrally located Centennial Park in 100 Mile House. The park also features a variety of other trails and playground structures.

70 Mile House - Sugar Shack

Indulge in some delicious Quebec-style food at the Sugar Shack, open year-round. Enjoy simple fries, devour a poutine, or load up on Maple Syrup!

Cache Creek - Horstings Farm Market

Featuring fresh produce, your favourite fruit pies (including frozen!), and a small cafe whipping up custom sandwiches and homemade cinnamon buns, Horstings Farm Market is a must-stop for foodies. You can also find birds, farm animals, and green grass to stretch your legs.

Boston Bar - Hells Gate Airtram

Explore the small kids section, check out the history, or take in the massive strength of the Fraser River as it rushes through the canyon with a tram ride down to the small site on the other side of the river. Hells Gate Airtram might be closed depending on when you leave Prince George, but it can make a nice 1-2 hour detour on the way up to Prince George.

Savona - Kamloops Lake - Rest Stop

Stop and enjoy the views over Kamloops Lake at this provincial rest stop by packing a picnic. With toilets, picnic benches, and breathtaking views, the kids will love climbing over the rocks.
