Now Open Wednesdays until 6pm - starting June 2026
It's no secret that my favourite part about our current location is that we are in control of our operational hours. Which means, we run a tight ship - 5 days a week.
But, we also know that many of you work, and can't make it in before we close at 5pm to pick up things. Which is why last fall, we added one 6pm close and it's coming back this summer into the Fall season.
Starting this week, we will be open until 6pm every Wednesday. We tried 7pm once, but found the last people who walked through the door was around 6ish, and opted to keep it to 6pm. I'd rather pay employees for their time past 6pm - once in a while, than all the time. Because theres nothing worse than being bored at work.

During the holiday season, many people start complaining about the limited hours of independent shops. But I have some data to share with you because for lamost 2 years we were open late at Pine Centre Mall. I think this is a fantastic case example because it's a very large shopping space that everyone knows about - and yet...
We averaged $70 total, in the hours after 5pm, from POS.
Staffing is about $25/hour.
Inventory is 45-55%.
It's just not worth it. One of the biggest expenses for a business is staffing, and when your earning potential is limited in small towns you begin to find ways to maximize staffing costs, and return on investment.
During the holiday season, that increased to about $112/evening. Even then that's touch and go. Sometimes it's not lucrative enough to swap family time for. Truly, people who want to shop local and independent make it work and find ways to prioritize it.
