Weekly Email: Fill a Bag Update & Temporary Consignment Pause starting February 14
by Bailey Bouwman
The relief that comes after a Fill-A-Bag event is always amazing. We cleared 7 full bins of product and raised $200, which I’ll be passing along to the Salvation Army Food Bank to support our local community --- thank you so much to everyone who came out and helped make that happen.
I had intended to pack it up; but other things are keeping me too busy to get to the storage unit and the small table isn't taking up too much room.
We still have 5 bins remaining, and they’ll stay available as I prepare for inventory and clear out random corners of the shop and different doom piles. It's mostly play condition and heavy on the girl
•Take what you want
•Leave a loonie or five if you can or just take it
Consignment Drop Off Pause coming February 14 - 28th.
As an independent shop with just me and one part time employee; I need to ask for a break so that I can do inventory and catch up on all the work that needs to be done before my year end. This is your warning that starting February 14th, we will not be accepting drop offs and any drops during this time will be dated March 1, 2026.
I'm currently 2-3 weeks behind, sometimes a month if your box or bag got lost in the bottom of the pile. Today I hope to get through some more emails and accounts. Do reach out if you're wondering about things because emails get lost.
Store credit continues to be our dominate and preferred method for buy outs. Unlike the big guys, we're running on boot straps and love and technically February is always our slowest and poorest performing month as we try to make rent in just 28 days.
Exceptions may apply because your girl has a rubber arm. I'll take newborn, preemie, and high need categories that are identified. There’s always room for flexibility, but if you’re able to hold off until March, that helps immensely.
We’ve had a few special requests lately and are actively watching for:
• White or christening gowns (especially for 8-year-olds) (Formal wear in general has been on the rise as a high need category)
• Husky-fit jeans (size 10–12)
• Roots joggers (size 12Y)
• Water shoes (size 6)
• Newborn & Preemie sleepers
How can you help?
Ensure your drop offs are clean and turned right way out. The easiest boxes are those that are laid flat or simply folded in half. I have to unfold everything to inspect and size it. And I sort your box by item's pricing. So I'll create a pile of bodysuits, a pile of leggings, a pile of pants and so forth. Everyone wants to bring me your boxes sorted by size but I'd rather you sort by type.
Yes, I'll still take winter gear but it's likely headed to storage until August because hello 10 degree weather.... which if you're looking for preloved rain jear it's in the back so find it online while I get the collections sorted out.
New Arrivals This Week
🎧Yoto Card Restock Heavy on the songs — perfect timing for road trips and cozy evenings.
🧤Reima Rain Mittens – Both Styles Back in Stock With warmer temps and wet snow, winter gear gets bogged down fast. I really ordered these for March - it's unseasonably warm today and it's weird.
The Reima Antouroin bootie is a waterproof early walker soft soled shoe. With a wool lining, and a more tapered cut these have been a best seller and must-have for the earliest walker. If you're familiar with Stonz bootie covers, these are a great alternative.
